Ron Zacapa Centenario 23 Y.O. is originally from Guatemala. Experts agreed that this is the best rum in the world. He is a Platinum Medal winner and 1st place at the Institute of Beverage Testing in Chicago. It is produced by distillation from fermented pure sugar cane syrup. It matures with a solera system at an altitude of 2333 m. in white oak barrels in which bourbon, Sherry Pedro Ximenez, also port, cognac or Tokaj wine has been ripened. In fermentation, the distillator uses its own yeast strain derived from pineapple and produces a specific flavor. This is followed by a 23-year distillation in the heights of Guatemala. It has a very sweet and nutty aroma with a hint of honey, chocolate and caramelized sugar. It has a very sweet, soft taste with a long finish and a hint of smoke.
