The birth of the Coca-Cola drink

The story of the drink and the company of the same name began in the United States, in the city of Atlanta. The year was 1886, when John Stith Pemberton, a local pharmacist with a reputation for mixing various tonics and patented medicines, made a new, then nameless, refreshing drink.

The company currently offers over 400 lines of its products in 312 states or dependent territories.

In 1996, Fortune magazine first named The Coca-Cola Company the "most respected company" in the world.
